To Love A Stray

Reluctant, I chased the sunset–

An evening train home.

I wonder if she still loves me.

Three words, spoken twice–

Just before departure.

I’d love her all the same.

Tomorrow stings, or maybe glows–

A memory to keep?

I guess it doesn’t matter.

Willingly, I gave to her–

Care and my affections.

I won’t change a thing.

The moon rose, aside my car–

It travelled far with me.

I hope I see her again.
